Oscar Prieckaerts is more than a furniture maker. He has a deep commitment to beauty, imagination and functionality, applying these principles to every piece and project he works on. Dutch born and trained, he has an innate insight into living and working in small spaces with an expert ability to re-design a space for maximum usage, whether it be an office, retail store or residential home.

Oscar began studies in the Netherlands in sculpture at Kunstacademies Maastricht-Tilburg-Breda, and then continued with cabinet-making at Meubelmakers Vakschool in Amsterdam. He began his professional career in Amsterdam, where he could be spotted delivering pieces of furniture via a "bakfiets" (barge bicycle)or even sometimes by boat on the canals. Shop interiors included the design and make of the Knopen Winkel (retail specialist button shop), Exota (clothing retailer), de Bolhoed (macrobiotic restaurant), Bordewijk (restaurant) among others. His free style furniture was represented by Gallery Eckhardt, Amsterdam, and he made objects and furniture for private clients, often collaborating with other designers and artists.

In 1991, he moved permanently to Sydney, Australia.

He continues his trade in his new homeland, still working with professionals and private clients alike.
